Q: – I have heard that Yoga is a separate religion. So, yoga can come between my spiritual dispositions?
It is true that Lord Shiva himself elaborated yoga to ancient sages/gurus, but it does not mean it a separate religion. Yoga can said to be a scientific activity which consist other small activities and it has only one purpose- to unify and strengthen mind, body and soul and that’s why people feel closer to spirituality by doing yoga.
Q: – Why yoga is said to be one of a kind and different from all fitness exercises/regimes present?
Yoga is a process of completely purifying your body, mind and soul. It is that process by which a person doesn’t only lose weight or stay fit. Yoga can make a person’s body, mind and soul completely healthy. Any other exercise can’t give you this.
Q: – Can a person without flexibility in their body, learn yoga?
Yes, a person doesn’t need flexibility to learn yoga. Flexibility will come naturally after doing yoga for a specific period. Our yoga teachers will work on you and will recommend aasans to make you flexible.

Q: – Is it true that a person should be trained yoga practitioner/professional to join the course?
No, it is not true but it is suggested that a person should know about basic yoga like Suryanamaskar and other basic aasans, so he/she can have good grip on the complex aasans done in RYT 200 and be comfortable while doing them.
Q: – What are the different styles of yoga I will be learning at Yoga Marg?
Yoga has many styles and every style has its own importance. At Yoga Marg, we teach 4 styles-
- Traditional Hatha Yoga
- Vinyasa Flow
- Ashtanga Yoga
- Iyengar based Therapeutic Yoga
As we have said before every style has its own importance and by taking starters class of these styles, will help you choose which style suits you best and you can deeply learn that style.
Q: – Can I become a qualified yoga teacher after graduating and at what level this is possible?
At Yoga Marg, all the students who attend all classes and do their homework thoroughly get the course completion certificate which make them a professional teacher. So, they can start teaching from there on, but it recommended for everyone to apply for Yoga Alliance certification to increase the chances of better job opportunities.
Q: – Is it possible to attend course for increasing knowledge and deepen practice and not for getting certificate to teach?
Yes, a person can undertake intensive yoga sessions to gain knowledge and learning in-depth yoga by learning complex aasans, meditation and techniques of doing yoga. Our courses are made for teacher’s training but they can be taken for other purposes too.

Q: – Exactly what is Yoga Alliance? How to become RYT?
Yoga Alliance® is a non profitable organization (NGO) and is a support and education organization for yoga schools. In yoga Industry, Yoga Alliance has become the measuring standard of any yoga training school and it has approximately 3k registered schools with 37k registered teachers all over the world.
For becoming RYT (Registered Yoga Teachers) a person must follow very specific and clear set of standards in terms of training, curriculum, planning and qualification.
Q: – Yoga Marg is really certified by Yoga Alliance?
Yes, all Yoga Marg courses are Yoga Alliance accredited from the 200 or 300 hour levels. We are RYS200 and RYS300.

Q: – Do I have to apply for Yoga Alliance International certificate separately or not?
Yes, you have to apply for Yoga Alliance International certificate separately. After receiving the certificate from us (Yoga Marg) on completing the course, you will be allowed to apply for the above. Although, it is not compulsory to apply for Yoga Alliance certificate but as we have said it before, it will increase your chances of getting better jobs as almost all the fitness institutes demand this certificate from candidates.
Before the Course:-
Q: – Need help, travelling to India for the first time?
After your registration with us, we will give you the details of your course manager. You can call him/her anytime and get answers of your questions, queries and any other needed help.
Q: – Is Airport pick up facility is available or not?
Yes, this facility is available and we will not charge a single penny from you. All you have to do is provide us the schedule of your flight and a driver will pick you up. You also don’t have to pay him, but can give tip (max INR 100) if you wish to.
Q: – Exactly what are the things that are included in Course fees?
The course fees include your accommodation at retreat and course tuition with all 3 vegetarian meals from Monday to Friday, filtered drinking water and 24/7 hot water supply (Dharamsala only). Airport pickup is included from Goa, Dharamsala and Dehradun airports.
The retreat does not provide toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc,), clothes and towels. All these things should be brought along from home or can be purchased from the local market and the expenses will be bear by you.
Q: – What is the strength of one class OR number of students in one class?
We only allow having 10 to 15 students in one class to give them proper attention. There are some batches where 25 students present in one class but we divide them in two groups and manage them separately as we have two yoga halls in every center. For theoretical classes like Anatomy, Philosophy, Art of Teaching Methodology or any other theory based class, all the students have to attend class in spite of their number.
Q:- What should I bring with me?
Most importantly you should bring your comfortable and yoga idle clothes with you and your essentials that you carry with yourself while travelling.
You should remember to bring toiletries and towels. You can also bring pen, notebook, natural mosquito repellent, alarm clock or any other thing that you find important.
As whether in Dharamsala is bit cold sometimes, so don’t forget to bring light winter clothes with umbrella or raincoat.
Q:- Do I need vaccines before coming to India?
No, normally people don’t need vaccines before coming to India but please consult your personal doctor about this and do as suggested by him.
During the Course:-
Q:- What will happen if a class was missed by someone?
It is a basic requirement to have 100% attendance to get the course completion certificate but a person can work extra with the teachers to complete his/her unattended training hours.
** Note: this facility is only for students who have serious reasons –like illness – for missing the class, not for any other less serious reason. **
Q:- What is the duration of homework OR what amount to time needed to spent on homework?
You have to spend approx 1 hour daily in doing homework and this also includes written homework. Your teachers will guide or help you, if you need help.
Q:- Will I have free time?
Yes, you will have free time between aasans and discourses, daily. Also you will have later evening to yourself fully and weekends are free too.
Q:- Are weekend off?
Yes, Sundays are off and on Saturday we only take morning class leaving rest of the day to you, but there are few occasions when we have to conduct full day Saturday class. During these days we provide all the 3 meals to students.
Q:- Do we have students from different cultures, religion and backgrounds?
Yes, we have students from all over the world and welcome every person of any ethnicity, religion, culture and background with open arms and warm heart. Even some of our yoga teachers are not of Indian origin but they are great yogis.
Q:- I have not taken my meal or meals on some particular day, so can I get refund for that or not?
No, you can’t get refund for the meal or meals you have not eaten. We arrange the full vegetarian yogic meals for students and didn’t encourage them to eat outside, but it depends on their wish to eat outside or not. The money for food during a stay is not refundable, whether students eat all meals or not.
Q:- How to get meals in the weekends and what is their cost?
There are lots of choices to eat out and have meals almost within 10 to 15 minutes walk from all our centers. It will cost approx INR 200 to 400 for a single person (USD 4 to 8).
In Dharamshala we have Once in Nature (Organic Food), Magic Tree, German Bakery, SkyPe etc, (Neha you can add this if you want).
Q:- I want to get Indian local SIM. What documents are needed and how much time it will take?
In India, SIM is generally activated in approx 24hrs after submitting documents. You have to submit your passport’s photocopy and passport size photo to the near mobile recharge outlet.
Q: – Are credit cards accepted in local Indian market?
Mostly no, almost all shops accept only cash in INR currency only. But there are few money changers around for exchanging money.
Q: – Are there any ATMs near Yoga Marg centers?
Yes, there are plenty of ATMs near all our centers but daily withdrawal limit is only INR10K. Still it’s plenty to cross many days by this money.
Q:- I have a blog and I am an active blogger. Am I allowed to write about my experience in Yoga Marg?
Yes, you can write about your experience with us freely. You can even use the pictures from our facebook page (Neha, link to facebook page)

Q: – If I’m unable to attend the training for some reason, then can I get my refund?
Students are required to pay the INR30K to INR40K as advance, depends upon location of booking a seat in the course of their choice – this fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
Rest of the fees is to be paid on the day of joining. If due to any circumstances or any reason, a student has to leave a session midway, he/she is allowed to join back any time but with prior notice, in the next two years, but this fee is also NON-REFUNDABLE.
If a student has already paid the advance and booked the dates but was not able to make it to the center, he/she MUST inform us (minimum 2 weeks) in advance for Dharamshala/Rishikesh and (4 weeks) in advance for Goa to re-schedule his/her course within next two years. If he/she failed to inform us or is informing within one week of course’s starting date then he/she has to fully bear the 50% of accommodation charges.
Q: – I got injury/was in accident just before I was to start my course, can I get the refund on medical grounds?
We are sorry for your injury/accident but the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE and can’t be refunded to you in any case.
